Why I Started Run with Jo

Welcome to my corner of the running world.
Running has been part of my life since I was 13. Over the years, I’ve experienced the highs of finishing races and chasing big goals, as well as the lows of injury and starting over. I know what it feels like to doubt yourself, to wonder if a goal like your first 5K, half marathon, or ultramarathon is even possible. I’ve wrestled with the mental side of training just as much as the physical—and I know many runners do too.
That’s why I started Run with Jo, an online running coaching space built to support runners at every level.
With a background in kinesiology, health science, and over 15 years of coaching, I’ve seen how running can transform people—not just in fitness, but in confidence, resilience, and joy. My mission is simple: to make running feel accessible, empowering, human and safe. Whether you’re looking for beginner running tips, personalized coaching, structured marathon or ultramarathon training, this is a place where you’ll find support.
I also know that women often have unique coaching needs. As a coach, I strive to create plans that recognize those realities and help women feel strong, capable, and confident.
Here on the blog, you’ll find:
Honest stories from my own journey — the good, the messy, and everything in between.
Practical running tips for beginners and intermediates, from building endurance to avoiding injury.
Guidance for runners chasing milestones like their first 5K, half marathon, or ultra.
Insights on mindset, motivation, and learning how to enjoy the process while still chasing results.
This blog isn’t about being the fastest or fittest. It’s about showing up, running smarter (not harder), and finding meaning in every mile.
I’m so glad you’re here. Whether you’re lacing up for the very first time or training for something big, I hope you’ll feel supported and inspired to run your own path — with me alongside you.
See you on the trails (or the roads),
Jo
